Martin Matheny has performed as a tuba player with the Columbus (GA) Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Symphony Orchestra, and Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, and in 2012 was named as a winner of the Southern Adventist University Concerto Competition. He has also placed as a finalist in the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference quartet competition and the Brass Quintet Competition of the Americas. In addition to his work as a performer, Martin also composes and arranges music for big band, brass ensemble, and trombone choir.
Martin studies tuba and bass trombone with Donald Strand. His previous teachers include the late David Randolph and the late Fred Mills of the Canadian Brass. He lives in Athens with his wife Shaye and their two dogs.
