Karla Utterback has been a private clarinet, saxophone, and beginning piano instructor since 1977 and has served as a judge for various local and state competitions as well as serving as a clinician in Georgia and the Midwest. She has performed with and/or directed many groups including orchestra, concert band, musicals, wind symphony, marching band, jazz ensembles, woodwind ensemble, clarinet choir, worship teams, and as a soloist. Karla studied music at Truman State University, William Penn University, University of North Georgia, Brenau College, and studied privately with Mr. Himie Voxman. As an instructor, Karla provides her students an opportunity to learn new skills on their instrument, proper breath support, technical and stylistic studies, practice techniques, related theory, recital preparation, performance opportunities, related music appreciation, sight-reading, and a large dose of encouragement and enthusiasm for the success of her students!
